It's pretty easy to "blackface" these amps for a full generational regression. I usually prefer switchable mods that allow me to go back to the amp's original circuit and tone. Later Fender blackface and silverface tube amps should NOT have 6L6, 6L6G, 6L6GA or 6L6GB installed, due to higher operating voltages and currents. If you wish to use modern tubes in such amps, stick to a true 6L6GC or KT66. In 2015 Fender introduced the dual-channel Bassman 500, combining Fender’s world-standard "blackface" tube preamp with a lightweight 500 watt Class D power amp and a wealth of innovative features on the front and rear panels. Fender had many issues since most folks let their amps get out of bias spec and the tremolo would then go away or sound very faint.
